AUTOBarge Workshop – Co-design risk distribution for autonomous inland shipping

event 29.11.2024
location_on Wexstr. 7 20355 Hamburg

This workshop will be held in English.

The Logistics Initiative Hamburg, together with University of Antwerp, is working on the future of inland shipping in the EU project AUTOBarge. As part of this project’s research, we are kindly inviting interested stakeholders to our interactive workshop “Co-design risk distribution for autonomous inland shipping”. Help us shape the future of autonomous barges.

Who will be responsible if an accident is caused by an autonomous barge? What happens if cargo is lost onboard an autonomous barge?
If these questions interest you and you are an inland shipping stakeholder, we invite you to join the risk distribution co-design workshop in Hamburg on 29th November 2024.

Workshop Goals:
This workshop aims to bring together inland shipping stakeholders to discuss and design an optimal risk distribution system for the future of autonomous barges. You’ll have the chance to share your insights, hear from other stakeholders, and collaborate creatively to build a liability framework that supports the safe and effective use of autonomous barges.

Workshop Activities:

  • Group Discussions: Work in small groups to explore future scenarios and creatively develop ideas for liability and risk distribution.
  • Collaborative Design: Engage in a hands-on process to create a framework that meets the needs of the industry.

Who Should Attend?
We’re looking for a diverse group of professionals involved in inland waterways transport, including but not limited to Shipowners, Charterers, Shippers, Insurers, Terminal operators, and Waterways management professionals.
Legal experience is welcome but not required. We value your expertise in your field!

Why Participate?
By joining the workshop, you’ll contribute to legal research conducted by the University of Antwerp as part of the EU-funded AUTOBarge project. Your insights will help develop a risk distribution framework that addresses the needs of all stakeholders in the sector. This is also a great opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and strengthen connections within the inland shipping community.

Duration
The workshop lasts 3 hours (9:00 – 12:00), followed by a light lunch.
